That mission began more than 50 years ago with a simple but powerful idea.
The story began when founder Doug Ralston was selling pressure switches in 1968.
One application in a steel mill was completely mechanical and couldn’t be tested in place. To check it, the line had to be shut down, a union electrician and a union pipefitter had to be called in to disconnect it, and the equipment was sent out to a shop for testing.
“He got tired of waiting,” recalls Griffin Ralston, Doug’s son and current CEO. “So he developed a product that let people do the tests themselves in the field.”
That innovation, the world’s first pneumatic hand pump, not only saved time but also laid the foundation for a company built on practical problem-solving.

From that first innovation, Ralston has continued to expand its solutions to meet the needs of technicians across industries.
Today, Ralston designs solutions for applications ranging from hydrostatic testing to PSV testing and digital monitoring.
Those solutions don’t start at the drawing board. They start in the field.
“We make it a priority to go out in the field and spend time with the customers,” says Griffin. “You learn the language they use, how they approach the job. That ends up being our North Star to inform product development.”
