Lawrenceburg Power, a 1,186-megawatt combined-cycle facility in Indiana, operates in a fast-paced, shale-gas-driven market where precision matters.
The site’s multi-craft technicians maintain more than 3,600 instruments, with over 300 requiring critical calibration during outages.
For years, the plant relied on a manual, paper-based system for calibration—requiring technicians to pull from a vast inventory of gauges, meters, and fittings, follow printed procedures, and document results by hand.
While that approach worked, it was time-consuming and prone to inconsistency, especially when performed by different technicians across shifts.
As part of a broader initiative to modernize and streamline their process, Lawrenceburg Power focused on standardizing calibration setups, starting with the connections.

Lawrenceburg Power set out to:

To standardize and streamline calibration workflows, Lawrenceburg converted all field devices and calibration equipment to use Ralston Quick-test™ tube fittings.
These precision-engineered components allowed the team to build two complete fitting and hose sets that worked across the plant’s entire inventory—without requiring thread sealant or wrenches.
Senior Technician, Ron Cash, also designed a custom-built training bench outfitted with Quick-test fittings.
This made it easy for every technician to follow the same process with consistent connection points and faster setup times.

- Training became easier, with every technician using the same hose and fitting kits on a dedicated test bench
